Fantasy Flight Games have announced plans to release a board game based on the Battlestar Galactica TV series

    From their announcement:

Fantasy Flight Games announced today that they will be releasing Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game, based on the smash hit series produced by Universal Media Studios and broadcast in the United States on the SCI FI Channel. “We’re happy to have the chance to bring the fun and excitement of Battlestar Galactica to the table,” said Christian T. Petersen, CEO and founder of Fantasy Flight Games. “BSG is a favorite of a great many FFG employees, and we’re thrilled to be allowed to play in its universe.”

“Battlestar Galactica’s rich storylines and compelling characters provide the perfect playground for a totally immersive gaming experience,” said Adam Stotsky, Executive Vice President of Global Brand Strategy and Market Development for the SCI FI Channel. Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game will be a semi-cooperative game, in which players work together to solve problems confronting the fleet, ranging from mechanical to political issues, all the while remaining vigilant for Cylon attacks. However, suspicion clouds the ship and its crew, as one or more players may indeed be a Cylon.

The game will be released by FFG in the Autumn of 2008, between the first and second halves of the popular television show’s final season

Don’t know about the game, but that Show may be the best thing on TV…Better than most Network fare! Not just the best SCI-FI drama, but best Drama period.

Will there be rules for boring the players to death in-game?

Sigh. Love the idea, can’t stand the show, sorry, supervike. ;)

I wonder how they’ll put this one together. FFG’s pretty out of the box in bringing licensed tie-ins to the tabletop (Game of Swords doesn’t play like Starcraft or Dust, for example).

This sounds like “Shadows over Kobol” to me. I’m a huge fan of the show, and can only hope that FFG bring their usual high-quality production to the game.
