  • 2007 Reader’s Choice Best Fantasy miniature nominations

We regret to inform you that due to suspicions of cheating and vote fraud in regards to the voting in both rounds of the 2007 TGN Reader’s Choice Awards that the staff of Tabletop Gaming News no longer feel comfortable with putting the TGN name to the results of these votes.

As such we are not going to be awarding any Reader’s Choice Awards this year. We are still working on the 2007 Editor’s Choice Award and will also be working on an article outlining some of our favourite releases from this year.

We’d like to thank all those people who submitted nominations and comments. And also those who only voted once. To those of you bragging about using an entire lab worth of computers to rig the voting, well thanks for screwing it all up for everyone. Hope you’re satisfied with the results of your actions.

*edits to question about whether is is a single miniature or a range, to avoid looking foolish*

    2. Zac says:

Nominations have to be for a miniature released in the last 12 months. Not an entire range.

I would like to nominate Brom, Hard Bark by Enigma Miniatures.

      Freebooter needs to be represented.

I saw that the candle demon was nominated previously but I nominate this one.

      Also Asmodee’s Hell Dorado

Names of the products with the nominations please.

Rackham Irix ultimate edition (that’s originally a Nov. 2006 release, might be borderline):

      Hell Dorado Bran Carnoth:

Irix was part of the awards voting last year

    12. Pr0fane says:

Well, since the miniature is equipped with archaic weapons, and could easily fit into any fantasy setting, I’d like to nominate Dark Age Games Dragyri Resin Ice Elemental.

Zac; if this doesn’t qualify because the Dark Age line isn’t Fantasy, feel free to ignore my nomination.
      Dragyri Resin Ice Elemental

      name please?

Unfortunately we can’t accept nominations from employees or owners of a company.

Feel free to send a fan along to nominate it as a sci-fi or fantasy fig though :-)

      Majestic Bear: “Mountain Giant”
      http://www.majesticbear.com/products/2

Considering this is MB’s first year of production he has produced some phenomenal stuff. The Giant has obviously had an awful lot of careful planning and thought behind it, and is a magnificent example of its craft!

    17. Honigkuchenwolf says:

      Anima Tactics: Alessa Raincross

I couldn’t decide on only one of this two:

      Taxxis C:

      http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=981

      and Valaska Syn:

      http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=979

      So I nominate both :D

    19. Gitteau says:

      Rackham’s “The Scarecrow”:

      http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/liste_produits.cfm?type=788&code_lg=lg_us&num=46

Creeps me out every time. More subtle than a blood drinking demon or whatever, but I think it’s a great model.

    20. Zomboner says:

Is the Hell Dorado Damne de la Gourmandise a viable nominee, or is it technically not released yet?
      http://helldorado.fr/figurines/damne-de-la-gourmandise-peinture-studio-asmodee.php

    21. Zac says:

It won’t be released for another three days and won’t make the cutoff for this year.

    22. Zomboner says:

      Shucks :(

    23. dagorlad says:

Heck! I’ll nominate it, it’s magnificent.
      Blue Resin Ice Elemental

Alis is gorgeous but Feng Yi from Anima Tactics just gets it by a silky, embroidered dress:-

      Feng Yi

There’s currently no better picture available (that I can find), I’m afraid. Unlike most even great minis, she looks fantastic and dynamic from every angle - even the jaded owner of the LGS stopped mid-transaction to gawp at what a great mini she is….

    25. treslibras says:

Great thing you opened up for nominations!

And my favorite has already been nominated (Rackham’s Mid-nor Demon Tower)!

I wonder why nobody comes up with Reaper Minis, though.

Sure they produce a lot of B-stuff (that, mind you, grants a living to some good sculptors!) but occasionally they come up with something really nice. So I nominate a 2007 release (if I am not completely mistaken):

Dilean Softstep, Half Elf Rogue - made by: Tre Manor

      http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=5073&cat=118&page=6

A humorous Fantasy miniature in its best, “old school” sense.

    26. magyar says:

      Best Fantasy miniature nomination:
      Chams Al Majid - Djinn

      Dagorlad; thank you! :)
