    Alley Cat Games opens

Alley Cat Games in Dublin Ohio is now officially open for business.

    From their announcement:

Alley Cat Games & Comics is a family-friendly retail shop specializing in miniatures, role-playing, card, and boardgames as well as comic books, graphic novels and more.

DC Comics-exclusive writer, and central Ohio resident, Sean McKeever will make a personal appearance on opening day from noon until 2pm, as well as several other local artists. There will also be musical performances by Stratos.

Alley Cat was created out of need in the northwest part of town for a local gaming store for the rapidly growing Dublin and Powell. Alley Cat seeks to be a community hub, where friends can gather and game, or talk about their favorite comic books; a place where parents feel safe allowing their children to come and play games.

Alley Cat was started by Jeff Cope, with a tremendous assist from family and friends. The shop’s name was inspired by his 2-1/2 year old daughter, Allie. The idea for the store began germinating in January 2007. Cope has grown up reading comics, and began gaming while attending Branham High School in San Jose, CA in the early 1980s.

“I’ve always had a passion for comic books. They are the ultimate medium, limited only by the imagination of the artist and writer.” Cope says. “Games are much the same. The imagination involved in the creation of many of the great games out is astounding. The wonderful thing about both games and comics is that there really is something for everyone, every taste and every age.”

Alley Cat Games & Comics is a 1,500 sq ft store front in the Festival Center on Sawmill Road, just south of SR 161. The space is divided between the front retail area and the back room set up for in-store gaming. Alley Cat will play host to a variety of gaming events, family game nights and company-sanctioned games.

Grats on the launch! Wish I could join you for the launch. Next time I’m in Ohio I’ll be sure to stop by.

    Jeff Cope says:

    Thanks, D! I appreciate it!

When you become hugely successful, and are thinking of opening a second store (6 months right? *grin*) think of Seattle… maybe you could call it The Soggy Kitten :)

BTW, I’m a cat guy, and don’t condone hurting cats in any way… but Seattle is a wet city, so it seemed an appropriate name.

I’ll be checking your blog for launch day photos…

Best of luck with the shop Jeff.

Thanks, Grant! Despite some wonky POS issues, it’s been a good day so far!
