1A Games cancelled their Kickstarter campaign for their Tide of Iron starter sets. They’re going to have a re-launch soon after they’ve retooled their campaign.

From the update:

This Kickstarter is canceled and will be re-launched soon!

1A Games’s motto is “We recognize and listen to our fans” – and we have been listening.

We need to fix some of the pledge prices, add new pledge levels, and hopefully find a way to lower the shipping costs to our overseas fans.

We cannot change pledge levels once a Kickstarter is launched, and trying to add new rewards and pledge levels while the Kickstarter is running just seems to be confusing people.

Therefore, we are canceling this Kickstarter.

It will be re-launched after we re-write the pledge levels, and after we preview the revised version – especially with everyone who gave us feedback.

Thanks for your patience, understanding, and support!

  • This company seems very sincere and enthusiastic, and I wish them the very best in bringing back TOI and expanding it. But the announcement of their acquisition of the TOI licence was back in March, and since presumably they wouldn’t have got the licence if they had no resources, this campaign had a whiff of ‘cash our company up’ to me. Before this Kickstarter announcement, I’d got the strong impression that Stalingrad was going to be in released soon. So my initial reaction to this Kickstarter was “I’ll wait until it’s in the shop thanks, I can’t see any reason to send you cash upfront to get it, and also fund a re-release of TOI (which I already have).”

Perhaps other people went through the same thought process.

My thought process was #### that’s a lot for postage! And moved on most disappointed.

Unihead; I belive thats the reason it is called Kickstarter and not Preorder…

And US postage is a real killer these days…
